“I have wanted a pond ever since I was a young child, because my parents had built a small pond
in the backyard of our new home in the ‘50’s. In June of 1999, I was at the Del Mar Fair strolling
through the garden area with my husband, and we saw the most beautiful pond with a
waterfall. We picked up the business card of the pond’s designer—a man by the name of
Armando Morales. I wasn’t sure we’d be able to afford it or if our backyard was even large
enough, but we called Armando and asked him to come to our home to give us an estimate for
a small backyard pond. When Armando came to our house, we told him what we wanted. He
picked up a stick and drew on the ground what his vision was. It was far grander than we had
envisioned, but his quote was so reasonable that we gave him the go ahead for the project to
begin.
The end results were more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. The boarder around
the pond has always been filled with beautiful flowers, and the pond itself has had an array of
colorful lilies and koi. The pond has given us great joy and has created such a serene
atmosphere in our backyard. On warm summer evenings we sit in the backyard enjoying the
relaxing sound of the waterfall and the peacefulness of the surroundings. You can also see the
pond from inside the house—from our living room, family room, dining room, and even our
kitchen, so it gives a peaceful atmosphere to the inside as well as the outside of the house.
Armando has been ever faithful through the years in helping us to maintain our pond. About
every 4 or 5 months, he comes to clean out the pond and give it a good power washing. We
normally clean the pond filters every few weeks. Now that we are in our 70’s, we have recently
hired Armando’s son, Maverick, to come once a month to do a light cleaning, including the
filters. Maverick has been an outstanding addition to So Cal Waterscapes. Armando and
Maverick are both hard workers and always do a great job.

Thank you SoCal Waterscapes! We had hoped to get a water feature on our hillside, but several contractors did not want to deal with the steep slope in our yard. SoCal Waterscapes agreed to tackle the project. We never could have imagined the transformation that would take place in our yard. Armando and his crew made magic happen before our eyes. The waterfalls and pond they created are so natural looking, they actually seem to spring from the hillside. Everyone was so great to work with, so we also had them come back and build a stream bed and a block wall in another part of the yard- also beautiful! SoCal Waterscapes is a team of true artists! We can’t thank them enough!
